Our elevated bed has worked out super good. Sleeping in freezing temps the heat in the van goes to the top, and with curtains on each end of the bed it helps keep the heat in the smaller space. It also allows for more storage and no wasted space above the table. Going from memory....I think both levels are 19 inches. The water tanks fit perfect under the 2 lower storage areas and the batteries in the back below the passenger side storage by back doors. Clothes are in cardboard boxes under the bench seats so the can be pulled out if needed. The foot stool can be moved over in front of the bed. Fridge can also be accessed from the bed also. :) The roof vent can be accessed and controlled while in bed also. Since this photo we've changed the table into 2 halves so we can put up 1/2 of a table if needed. Also while cooking a table width type board about 1 foot wide fits at this end of the table boards for extra food prepping space and can also act as computer desk for laptopping while standing
